Where it lacked in appearance, it made up in power with a turbo charged system. The sixth Batmobile was an interesting deviation in design. It was equipped with a hot-line to Gotham City Police Headquarters, a dashboard button for opening the concealed Batcave entrance, and more anti-theft devices. The smaller and sportier Futura model was adopted for its greater maneuverability. It had the giant tailfin, twin rocket tubes housed in the fenders that gave short bursts of tremendous speed for short distances, could accelerate to 100 miles in 100 feet, housed a compact but complete traveling laboratory beind the front seats, dashboard television screens, navigational radar, and searchlight. The Studebaker-Imperial blend was utilized when Robin was in his pre-teen years. The fourth was a 50's Studebaker/Chrysler Imperial blend with Bat Signal projector on the canopy, the fifth was a 60's Futura with a twin bubble windshield, the sixth was a 70's charged sports car Batmobile, and the seventh was a 80's gunmetal-finish tank.
Eventually, Batman decided to use this version as his back up Batmobile in the present. It sported the scalloped vertical tailfin and a Bat-Mask ornament protecting the front grill. The third was a black 1944 Studebaker with fender skirts on all four corners, had no bumpers, and sported a pair of dramatic red stripes at the trim and belt lines on the car. The first Batmobile was a red 1936 Cord with a small bat hood ornament. Batman has gone through several Batmobiles over his career, eight total so far. It was completely modified and armed with advanced technology, most from Wayne Tech prototypes. This Batmobile also has the ability to morp into other vehicles for Batman to use, including the Batplane and the Batsub.īatman: The Brave and the Bold aired for three seasons, and DC produced two comic books based on the series.The Batmobile is Batman's primary mode of transportation. The arrangement of the cockpits and overall body shape are also similar to the design created by Mattel in 2004. This Batmobile evokes several classic designs, such as the "double bubble" canopy and black with red pinstriping of the '66 Batmobile and the single roof fin and fat fenders of the 1940s Batmobile. This series was a lighter take on the character, and featured a different team-up in each episode. The premiere of Batman: The Brave and the Bold aired on November 14 on Cartoon Network. The Batman finished its run in March of 2008, but Batman wouldn't be off the air for long.
